I just finished watching the entire collection of Remington Steele on DVD. There are a lot of reasons that I love this show, but the main reason is Miss Laura Holt. I confess, I have a bit of girl crush on Miss Holt. She is such a strong female character – smart, capable, and owner of very modest and reasonable work wardrobe. There should be more characters like her on television.
In some ways, Miss Holt is the 1980s equivalent of Special Agent Dana Scully. They both are highly intelligent women trying to make it a male-centric, male dominated profession. Each is trying to earn well-deserved respect in that profession. Each is paired with a non-conformist male counterpart that they don’t entirely understand. And, each is quite agile in a pair of heels.
Remington Steele has been occupying my free time since January. I guess now I’ll have to go back and watch the DVD extras. I am also considering trying to watch all of the movies that are referenced in each episode. If there’s time, I might even delve into some RS FanFiction. That ought to be enough to keep me busy until July 25th.

Remington Steele has been my favorite tv show for ever, for all the reasons you outlined, and one you forgot. Pierce Brosnan. With his little accent. Frequently appearing in a tuxedo.
