The picture is blurry but, yes, that is bacon on top of a maple doughnut. This Bacon Maple Bar was part of Russell’s breakfast during our trip to Portland last week. Sadly, they did not have the doughnut of my dreams, “The Memphis Mafia,” a glazed doughnut topped with peanut butter, bananas and chocolate chips. Voodoo Doughnuts was still worth the trip though.
For those of you in need of cheap wedding options, please note that the Legal Wedding Ceremony at Voodoo Doughnuts costs only $175 and includes coffee and doughnuts for 10. Talk about a deal.

That’s Cleveland beyond the haze, Russell’s hometown, and the place where we have spent a lot of time over the past few weeks.
Last weekend we were home for a birthday celebration. Where, you might ask, do Clevelanders celebrate their birthdays? Why, at Frank Sterle Slovenian Country House of course!

Where else could you go in Cleveland on a Saturday night to be served sausage and sauerkraut by ladies in costume dress? Or polka the night away with Joe Novak and his accordion?

I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With lasted two weeks in theaters. Despite my excitement, it closed the day before we had planned to go see it. Let’s hope the DVD comes out soon.
In other news… I was in Chicago earlier this week and will be visiting several cities in southern Virginia over the next few days. This weekend we’re headed to Cleveland for some good old fashioned family fun. And by fun, I mean polka.
I hope Dweebcentric is correct when she predicts that my adventures will provide more content for this blog. This time I’ll try to remember to bring the camera and batteries.
