I am off for a few days and way more excited about going to a business conference than should be allowed.

Hiatus

April 24, 2007 · 1 Comment

Our computer won’t die.  Twice in the past few months the power source has seemingly ceased to work, and it is only when we threaten the computer with talk of buying a Mac that the problem miraculously fixes itself.  Last week it refused to work and I blame it for my blogging hiatus.  That and my fear of blogging from my work computer, lest my colleagues learn my innermost secrets.

Last Saturday I was with a group that climbed Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah.  It was wet and cold and they were calling for snow at the peak, but it was really one of the most incredible things.  The rocks were slippery and it took six hours to hike 7 miles, but the experience was terrific, the people were great, and I’m still feeling a great sense of physical accomplishment.

The only thing that could have made the day better would have been a slightly less inhibited view from the summit…

Still, it was worth it.

If, like me, you only have a few people who even read your blog, you probably don’t have a problem with evil bloggers leaving comments. But just in case you are awesome, check out this NY Times article from today.

Easter Breakfast

The family was in town for the Easter weekend. This is their third annual Easter visit and it has become somewhat of a tradition (as my brother would dub it) to have breakfast at this quirky little place a few miles from our apartment. We stumbled across it on their first Easter visit simply because it was the only breakfast place that wasn’t packed full of folks out for some post mass food.

The best thing about this place is not the food, but the coffee mugs. They don’t have a standard set of plain mugs like most other places. Rather, they have a collection of misfit mugs and it’s good fun to see what kind you will get on any given day. This Easter morning I was greeted with the “Merry Christmas” mug pictured above. Russell’s featured the beautiful bird, my Dad had one from an FAA conference, and my Mom’s urged her to visit St. Louis.

If the mugs aren’t fun enough, this morning our waitress was dressed in Easter bunny gear, including face paint. The only way breakfast could have been better is if they had handed us baskets full of candy on the way out.
